Another year, another Halo Interview. This time I have asked a long time acquaintance from Instagram who goes by the name of Knightinwhite. She is a Halo/Skyrim photographer and car enthusiast. She met her husband through Halo while playing Reach. That alone is the best story. Let’s see what she has to say about Halo. Enjoy!
1. When did you start playing Halo?
I started playing Halo later than most people, I got my first Xbox when I was 15, and started playing Halo CE, but I had no internet at the time and only played the campaign. Shortly after finishing CE, I got Halo 3 and Halo Reach.
2. If you could choose to be one character of the Halo universe, who would you be?
I would probably want to be Noble 6. Although he dies, he was a nameless hero, an underdog, he was the new guy, the guy no one thought would have so much meaning to his existence. When all was lost, he completed his mission, putting Noble team’s name on the board.
3. Do you have a favorite Halo quote?
„Wake me, when you need me…“ It’s such a classic, and also the username of the guy I fell in love with.
4. What do you love most about Halo?
Halo, for a very long time, was the only Xbox game I owned. I had little interest in other games for a while. What I love most about the game (Up until about Halo 5) was the in-depth story. The beautiful connection between Bungie and players. (and even the new connection with 343i during Halo 4) The Halo storyline was unmatched by any other game or even book. See you star side, Bungie.
5. What do you hate most about Halo?
Not to be mainstream, but Halo 5. Halo 5 is probably the most infuriating „situation“ I guess you could call it. It was supposed to be the start of a new beginning and it was just kind of a disappointment for me. As the campaign went on, I kind of thought „What the heck am I doing? Why am I not feeling any joy or excitement from this?“ It just kind of felt disorganized, and like I was reading a book written by a child. That’s just my opinion.
6. How would you rate your skills in Halo? (1-10)
My skills out of 10, hmmm. Well sometimes I’m like a 2 but when I focus, I’m more of a 7. I’m good, I hit my shots, but when put against a 10, I probably won’t win, but I’ll have a good run. I do my best when I’m partnered up with my husband, we’re an unstoppable team.
7. What is your favorite Halo game?
Definitely, Reach. It was my favorite campaign by far, and it was the game I grew my skill in online multiplayer. My husband (online boyfriend at the time!) had to teach me how to play as a team and hold my own in a game. We played doubles the majority of the time, and when we weren’t, he was training me on snipes and magnums on the map Octagon, or we would go achievement hunting in the campaign. I couldn’t even tell you how long I’ve spent trying to get „If you came to hear me beg“ and still don’t have it.
8. What do you prefer? Campaign or multiplayer?
Campaign or multiplayer, that’s a tough one. From Halo 4 and down, I would play campaign just as much as I did multiplayer. I played the campaign for Reach a million times over and I’m still not tired of it. But with Halo 5, I only really play multiplayer with my friends. So for my final answer, I will always love campaign more than anything, but multiplayer is where I spend the most time.
9. Which games besides Halo do you play?
My all-time favorite is Skyrim. I honestly probably know more lore in Skyrim than I do Halo. I play a wide variety of other games as well though, Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls Online and other Elder Scrolls games, GTA, and so much more, but Halo and Skyrim are above all.
10. If you had to endure one level of any Halo game in real life, which one would it be and why?
I think I’ll have to go with New Alexandria because it’s one of the first missions where the lone wolf goes back to his old ways but has to find his pack. It’s one of my favorite missions, and to endure it would make for a much stronger person in me. That lone wolf stuff stays behind, right?
– Thanks so much for involving me in this! It brings back so many good memories. I haven’t played much Halo lately other than Halo 5 and some Reach with friends, and doing this makes me want to run the Reach campaign again!
Thank you Chrysann!
